When I researched online.i found out that a recommendation on inositol . I decided to try it having had a failed ivf. I lost 6kg within one month and noticed I ovulated this month. I have gone on progesterone (crinone 8%) gell treatment and all the painful luteal phase symptoms I use to have are no longer there. So I would say I am hopeful and would continue with inositol supplements. I am hoping I would conceive naturally cos I don't want to go back to ivf again. You can find them here:

http://www.wellroundedmama.blogspot.com/2015/01/recent-studies-on-inositol-for-pcos.html

http://wellroundedmama.blogspot.com/2015/12/2015-studies-on-d-chiro-inositol.html

Newer studies are being done, but mainly outside of the U.S., so acceptance from U.S. is limited. My care provider had never heard of the inositols but was open to me trying them. I think that most care providers currently do not give them any credit or consideration because the studies on them so far are fairly small. Still, more and more are being done so perhaps eventually they will be considered more routinely, providing the research continues to be positive.

You can check back here to see if I've posted updated summaries of recent inositol research. Check my blog under the tag "insulin resistance" or "PCOS." Anything I find on the inositols will be there. You can also do your own research on inositols or anything else. Medline has a publically-available database of studies on all kinds of subjects. Go to www.pubmed.gov, then enter your search terms. A little personal history, I've dealt with PCOS and infertility for many years. My first son was conceived after months of infertility treatment. My second son was conceived after I lost 30 lbs and my cycles were more regular than ever before in my life (about every 6 weeks). Then upon trying to conceive for a 3rd time, weight loss and diet were not bringing on ovulation, so I turned to the Internet.i couldn't believe I'd never heard of inositol before. After taking it for only about 2 months, I conceived my 3rd child. Also to note, I took inositol powder during that pregnancy and for the first time passed the 1 hour glucose screening. In my previous pregnancies I had failed the 1 hour but then passed the 3 hour test.

My only question: has anyone come upon new studies or information? The summarized information on this blog post is the most recent I have found. Has the medical field simply dismissed the validity of inositols or are there newer studies being done?Dan and Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01240452994068465943noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4738062031052371885.post-36423478450930906082014-08-20T16:22:26.703-07:002014-08-20T16:22:26.703-07:00You should talk to your care provider about its us...You should talk to your care provider about its use in combo with metformin.

Like metformin, the inositols are to help lower insulin resistance. Therefore you need them all through the month, regardless of whether you are menstruating or not.

I'm not a health care provider, but that's the gist of it to the best of my knowledge.Well-Rounded Mamahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04129621631406155340noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4738062031052371885.post-60775255931511614562014-08-19T05:46:53.375-07:002014-08-19T05:46:53.375-07:00hi, I’m new to inositol, and I started to use it t...hi, I’m new to inositol, and I started to use it today along with metformin. I was diagnosed with PCOS a few months ago, and I have been trying to read all I can and understand as much as possible about it. But there are so many different beliefs and treatment recommendations, even among doctors, that I felt really lost. Add to that the clear weight bias of almost all sources, and I just didn't know who to listen to or what to believe.

This is hands down the best source I have found for comprehensive information that I can understand as a layperson. And it's doubly wonderful that it's weight neutral. It's clear that you've spent a huge amount of time and effort researching and compiling this series. Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
